No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

Chapter 22

Years had passed, yet Noelle was the only one who had achieved King's signature 12-hit combo. She and Cedric entered the game and seamlessly teamed up to clear dungeons together.

Cedric paused and asked, "Have you ever played a tank role?"

"No. I mostly play long-range gunner," Noelle replied.

"You could switch to be a tank. It might suit you better," Cedric suggested.

Noelle's pupils contracted at his words. Someone had said the same thing to her in her past life. They encouraged her to play tank. At that time, she had only wanted to play long-range gunner because Lucas' team needed one.

For a moment, Noelle felt a surge of excitement. She wondered if Cedric was the same person from her past life. She had never gotten the chance to meet him then, and she regretted not being able to thank him personally. Cedric noticed her staring and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Nothing," Noelle answered quickly. "Sir, do you have someone you like?"

"No. Why do you ask? Do you have someone you like?" Cedric asked in return. He narrowed his eyes slightly, concerned about her possibly having a crush at her age.

Noelle looked at the computer screen and said, "I guess so." She was referring to her

unfulfilled online relationship from her past life. She so wished she could meet that person again in this life. She remembered the time and place when she met him and thought that perhaps that was when their paths were meant to cross. Cedric's voice deepened slightly as he said, "Kiddo, the most important thing for you right now is studying, not dating."

"I know. I'll think about it after the college entrance exam," Noelle said. She had met that person after her exams in her past life.

Cedric was growing frustrated. He thought that early relationships were troublesome.

He shut the computer off and said, "After dinner, you need to review your studies and spend less time on games." He figured that she wouldn't have time to think about anything else if he gave her more assignments.

After finishing two sets of past exam papers, Noelle was exhausted. Her brain felt too tired to function properly.

She got up to wash up and sleep, only to realize that she hadn't brought any spare clothes or toiletries. Noelle hesitated but decided to go out and buy some essentials. As she stepped out, Cedric opened the door and looked down at her. "It's so late. Where do you think you're going?

Noelle felt like she had been caught sneaking out. She quickly responded, "I'm just going to buy some toiletries and pajamas."

Cedric's expression froze briefly before he turned and closed the door. "Alright. Let's go," he said. He had no experience looking after someone, so he hadn't considered this.

Most shops were already closed due to the late hour. In the end, Noelle only managed to buy toiletries. She couldn't find any pajamas or slippers.

Cedric's expression remained impassive, but his mood was less than pleasant.

After returning to the apartment, he immediately called Alfred. "What's going on with the apartment you arranged? Why aren't there any essentials?"

Alfred replied casually, "Look, you asked me to have that apartment ready in half an hour. How could I have arranged for all the supplies at that time? Besides, you could've just gone with her to buy them. It would help get you two grow closer."

Cedric had always been accustomed to having others take care of matters for him. He never had to think about these small details.

Alfred suspiciously asked, "You didn't forget, did you? Are you seriously going out to buy things in the middle of the night?"

Cedric gritted his teeth. "You can shut up now." He hung up the phone, feeling slightly embarrassed. He then glanced at the wardrobe.

Cedric grabbed a pair of his slippers and a clean men's shirt. He walked over to the neighboring apartment and knocked on the door. After a long pause, Noelle's soft voice came from inside. "Coming."

When Noelle opened the door, her hair was still damp, and water dripped onto her clothes.noveldrama

Cedric's gaze flickered momentarily, but he stepped inside without hesitation.

She instinctively stepped back, but her left foot caught on her right, causing her to lose her balance and fall toward the ground.

"Great. How embarrassing," she thought, panic filling her mind.

However, instead of hitting the ground, she found herself falling against a warm chest. The steady sound of his heartbeat filled her ears.
