Chapter 29
"Did you hear what I said, Hendrix?"
Ophelia's next words made Noelle purse her lips.
So Hendrix was there, too.
Hendrix's voice was calm as he said, "Grandma, I thought we agreed not to talk about this."
"I agreed not to talk about this as long as she did what she was supposed to do! Look at this..." Midway through her rant, Ophelia began coughing violently.
"Grandma Ophelia!" Sandra cried.
"I'm fine," Ophelia said. "Hendrix, you're my only grandson. I only wish the best for you.
"Back then, your mother forced you to relent by holding the share of Amity Group over you, but now, she has no hold on you. You should think about ending your marriage with Noelle."
Hendrix did not answer her.
Noelle did not wait for an answer, either. As soon as Ophelia finished speaking, she pushed open the door and entered. Her sudden entrance made everyone in the room look toward her.
Sandra was looking at Hendrix with affection in her eyes. When she saw Noelle, her expression changed. She quickly stood up. "Noelle!"
Noelle did not answer her. Eyes lowered, she placed the lunchbox on the table.
"Beatrice told me to bring this here. It's porridge," she said
Ophelia frowned. "What's with that attitude?"
Noelle looked up and smiled. "What?"
"What do you think? You don't have to come if you don't want to, you know. You don't need to look so glum. I've
never seen..."
"Okay."
Before Ophelia could finish, Noelle turned away.
No one expected her to react like that.
Hendrix reacted quickly. He grabbed Noelle's arm. "Noelle, he said simply, the warning in his tone obvious.
Noelle met his gaze unflinchingly. "What? I'm clearly not welcome here."noveldrama
"Apologize to Grandma," Hendrix said, ignoring what she said.
Noelle continued staring at him, clenching her fists.
Sandra came up to her as well. "Noelle, just apologize to Grandma Ophella. She's been hospitalized because of you. Plus, she's still an elder. You shouldn't be giving her attitude..." She choked up slightly, as if she were about
to cry.
Compared to her, Noelle seemed cruel and heartless.
Ophelia scoffed. "No need! I don't need her apology. She just needs to stay out of my sight!" Chapter 29
When Noelle remained unmoved, Hendrix's expression darkened. His voice was cold. "Noelle," he repeated dangerously.
In the end, Noelle took a deep breath and turned to Ophelia. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Freeman Senior."
Her form of address stunned everyone in the room.
Hendrix gripped her arm tighter.
Noelle ignored him. "I shouldn't have acted that way earlier. After all, you were right. I am not worthy to be your grandson's wife.
"He has nothing binding him to me now. I'm not one to harass someone who clearly doesn't care about me, either.
Even Ophelia was speechless at that. After a while, she said in disbelief, "You mean..."
"I am willing to get a divorce with Hendrix."
What do you think?
