Chapter 63
Chapter 63:
Samuel lowered his head and said nothing.
Dolores frowned, “Say something.”
Samuel rubbed his hand with another, “He did something bad to mom, so I have to kick his ass for mom.”
Dolores frowned more. Samuel had also harped earlier on the fact that Matthew was hurting her.
He…
Dolores suddenly opened her eyes wide. Did Samuel see Matthew force himself on her and kiss her?
“Samuel…”
Dolores didn’t know how to explain to Samuel.
Samuel patted his chest firmly and said, “Mama, even though Simona and I don’t have a father, I’m a man now. I will protect them.”
Hearing Samuel say they had no father, Dolores felt as if her heart was suddenly stung by something. It was a fact she had been purposely ignoring.
She didn’t want to mention it.
She thought that as long as she loved them dearly, they would forget that they had no father.
However, when his son suddenly mentioned the matter, he could only feel his chest ache silently.
She hugged her son and lowered her head to kiss his hair. Although he was very smart, he was only five years old, which made him a child.
But he said he would protect her.
Her hand brushed Samuel’s back, “It’s mommy who should protect you…”.
Samuel disagreed and shook his head, “It should be men who protect women. I am a man, so I will protect you.”
“…”
Dolores didn’t know what to say. She looked at her son and thought about how old he was and how he already had a macho personality.
“Who taught you that?” Dolores frowned and asked.
Samuel blinked his big eyes and thought for two seconds, “My teacher.” Dolores carried her son to take him to bathe while inwardly thinking about whether she should go talk to his teacher.
Was it appropriate to tell such a young child such things?
“Mom, actually my teacher is cute and he’s nice to me…”
“Stop!” Dolores interrupted her son. He was such a little boy, how could he have such complex thoughts?
Samuel muttered, “Even if you don’t think about yourself, I have to.”
“…”
Dolores dropped him in the water, “From now on, you will leave adult matters alone.”
“Why?” Samuel asked.
“There is no why. This is my decision. hasn’t your teacher told you to listen and do what your mother says?”
Samuel lowered his head and nodded. His teacher said that children should listen to their elders.
His teacher also said that Mom was very tired trying to raise him and his sister.
So he shouldn’t make his mom mad.
But if he had a father, Mom wouldn’t be so tired.
Mom never mentioned it, though. And he didn’t dare ask.
Grandma wouldn’t let him ask either.
Samuel thought his father must be an irresponsible man who had abandoned Mom.
Samuel reached out his hands to hug Dolores, “Mommy, I love you.”
Dolores felt as if a current of warmth ran through her heart. It was like a spring that slowly enveloped her.
It was all worth it. Seeing her two children so adorable and sensitive, she felt satisfied.
She kissed Samuel on the cheek, “Mommy loves you too.”
Although the two children were in Jessica’s care during the day, at night it was Dolores who took care of them.
She had been dragging them to sleep since they were babies.
During the day she was busy and didn’t have much time to keep the children company. So at night she was the closest to the children.
She would tell them stories.
The children would snuggle against her chest, which made her feel on top of the world.
They were families united by blood.
When Dolores left for work, Samuel wanted to follow her. He said he wanted to protect her. He seemed very determined and would not take “NO” for an answer.
Although Dolores wanted to refuse him, she couldn’t.
“What kind of danger will I face when I am working?” Dolores was not able to cry or laugh.
As an adult, now she needed to be protected by a child?
“I don’t care.” Samuel said firmly. He was about to blurt out what if that bastard Matthew comes to hurt you again?
Even though he was a little boy, he thought a lot.
Dolores couldn’t persuade him. She agreed to take him to work. Jessica took care of Simona at home.
When they left, Samuel got into the car alone. Dolores buckled her seat belt and closed the car door. As she was about to sit in the driver’s seat, she realized that someone in a nearby car was watching her.
Her body tensed. Then she thought that she did not offend anyone in this area.
Maybe it was her delusion?
Who would be watching for other people in broad daylight?
So she didn’t think too much and got into the car.
As usual, he had breakfast at home and drove straight to LEO.
However, through the rearview mirror, Dolores accidentally found the car she had noticed following her earlier.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly. If it was her illusion before, what was it now?
She felt as if her heart was being held by something.
She had to find out.
There weren’t many cars on the road in the morning, so Dolores couldn’t get rid of the car that was stalking her.
She thought hard. To avoid putting her son in any danger, she slowed her car down. By the time she reached the store, thirty minutes had passed. Almost everyone was already here.
He got out of the car and asked Samuel to get out as well. Then they went into the store.
The store was crowded, so if the man following her was planning something bad, she didn’t dare just walk in.
After making some arrangements and making sure Samuel would be safe, Dolores headed for the car.
She wanted to find out who was stalking her and what he intended.
There was black film on the car windows, so Dolores couldn’t see who was inside. She raised her hand and knocked on the window.
No one answered and the window didn’t roll down either.
Dolores stood in front of the car, “You followed me here and you found me now. And yet you’re still hiding, what’s the point?”
Inside the car, Abbott scratched his hair. He came to check on Dolores but he was in a hurry and hadn’t slept much these past two days. Last night he slept in the car. So he wasn’t well mentally. And that’s why he was caught by Dolores.
Abbott covered his face with his hands and rubbed them together, which made him feel fresher.
He rolled down the window and smiled, waving, “Long time no see.”
Dolores stared at him for two seconds, “What are you doing here?”. She was surprised.
Abbott suffered from an anonymous guilty conscience and kept avoiding
Dolores’ eyes, “Um…. I have some business to attend to here.”
Dolores smiled coldly, Matthew came in yesterday and Abbott had business to take care of today?
Wasn’t that a great coincidence?
“What did he ask you to do here?” Dolores had no intention of chatting with him and asked directly.
Abbott insisted on saying nothing.
He couldn’t say that Matthew had asked him to investigate her, could he?
No one would be happy after learning that she was being investigated by others, would they?
“Do I have to call him to find out why?” Dolores was getting tough.
Abbott was surprised at Dolores’ attitude. He couldn’t help but evaluate her from the bottom up. No matter the way she spoke or the way she looked, she was totally different.
She was a woman now.
And before she was a girl.
Abbott scratched his hair, “Um…. Mr. Nelson wants to know where you live.” Then there was silence.noveldrama
Dolores turned and headed for the store.
She decided she had to move somewhere else.
She didn’t want to be bothered.
Especially by Matthew.
“Miss Flores…” Abbott wanted to explain.
Dolores didn’t give him a chance to speak and headed straight for the premises.
Abbott pursed his lips. He felt like a poor victim during a fight between superior beings.
While Dolores was thinking about moving elsewhere, Matthew, who was in China City B, was invited to have dinner with the Herbert Family.
If Matthew had not called off the engagement with Mary, it would be a great opportunity for the two families to improve their relationship.
However, being invited to have dinner with them now, he felt it was a trap.
But sooner or later it would happen, so Matthew had prepared himself.
Mary dressed up nicely. The entire Herbert Family was present.
Including Sampson, who was always abroad most of the year.
The hall was splendid. Everything looked jovial.
Wearing a black suit, Matthew entered the room. The splendid light enveloped him.
Seeing Matthew enter, Sampson suddenly changed his gaze…..
