Chapter 75
Chapter 75:.
Although the house wasn’t that big, its decor seemed quite warm. There was a rectangular table in the dining room and four family members were seated at the table.
As Jessica did not agree with Dolores’ request to go back to China and if she wanted to go back she would have to marry Sampson, the table was shrouded in a depressing atmosphere.
Only innocent Simona had no idea what was going on. She was sitting in Dolores’ arms, begging her mother to feed her.
“Mommy, I want egg custard.” Simona pointed with her little finger to the steamed egg custard, which was as tender as mushy fava beans.
Dolores poured a spoonful of custard and spooned it into Simona’s mouth.
Samuel sighed looking at his innocent sister like a grown-up who is bothered by things.
Dolores put a spoonful of egg custard in her bowl, “Children are not allowed to frown.”
“Ouch.” Samuel sighed again.
Why did this child sigh again after he was taught he wasn’t supposed to?

“Samuel Flores, watch your attitude.” Although Dolores was reprimanding him, she didn’t say those words seriously as she didn’t want to be hard on him.
“Why do you feel like eating?” Samuel threw a wet blanket at her.
“If you don’t manage to convince Grandma, what should you do with your work?” Samuel cared about this matter more than Dolores.
“Children shouldn’t worry about the affairs of adults. What they should do is to eat regularly and pay attention to studies.” Jessica served him a bowl of soup, “Eat. You are not allowed to get involved in the affairs of adults.”
Samuel was disgusted with her words, “I am also a member of the family, so naturally I have my right to speak. Grandma, Mom, let’s vote by a show of hands. The minority must be subordinate to the majority.”
“Oh, this child, who did you learn from? You’re very good at reasoning.” Jessica teased him. This boy was very young, but he had a lot of ideas.
“Let’s vote by a show of hands.” Samuel repeated her words with a determined tone.
“You want to go back that badly?” Dolores saw through her son’s mind. He seemed to want to go back to China so badly.
She had once thought that since her children had become accustomed to living here, they would not entertain the idea of living anywhere else. However, Samuel’s attitude was quite unexpected for her.
“Mom’s hometown is also my hometown. I just want to know what your hometown is like, Mommy.” Samuel said with a serious look on his face.
Although Dolores wanted to go back to the country, she didn’t because of her concern for Jessica’s feelings.
But Samuel was very smart and knew deep down that since Dolores respected Jessica so much, if they wanted to go back to the country, they had to get Jessica’s agreement.
He put down the spoon, ran to Jessica, tugged on her sleeve and said softly, “Grandmother, my dear grandmother, please agree.” But Jessica still did not agree.
Samuel continued to act sympathetic and pleaded in his soft tone, “Grandma, grandma, my dear grandma.”
“Grandma, grandma, my dear grandma.” Simona also followed suit.
Samuel and Simona’s tone was so soft, innocent and sweet that Jessica felt her heart melt.
She felt that if she continued to disagree with the request, she would feel sorry for the two children.
So she said, “Let’s vote by a show of hands.”
Samuel was the first to raise his hand, “Whoever agrees to go back to China please raise your hand.”
“Mom.” Seeing that Dolores remained motionless, Samuel gave her a sign. But Dolores only raised her hand when she knew Jessica was not going to be angry.
“Simona…”
“You can’t force her.” Jessica interrupted Samuel.
Samuel pouted and waved his raised hands at his younger sister.
Simona found this very interesting. As her mother and brother had all raised their hands, she raised hers as well.
Three to one.
Jessica had lost. But she wasn’t angry at all, but said worriedly,
“I don’t know if it’s a wise decision or not.”
“Grandma, don’t worry. I’ll protect my mommy.” Samuel stroked his chest and made the promise.
Jessica rubbed her grandson’s hair and let out a deep sigh. What was Samuel to know, since, after all, he was only a child?
But her filial piety was truly precious, “Your mom had risked her life to give birth to you two. And you really didn’t let her down.”
Samuel blinked. He too had heard from Sampson that his mom had suffered a lot to give birth to him and his sister.
“I won’t let anyone bully my mother.” Dolores said in a particularly resolute tone, as if she had made up her mind about something.
Jessica suddenly realized that she had talked too much about this. Samuel was a child after all. She picked him up in her arms and placed him on her thighs,
“Samuel, you’re a man of our family.”
“Of course.” Samuel lifted his chin and replied proudly.
Having managed to convince Jessica, the mood of the meal also relaxed. Simona, who was snuggled in Dolores’ arms, was sleepy and constantly dozed off, so Dolores picked her up. But the girl seemed to sense that Dolores was about to leave the table and opened her eyes, “I want to eat.”
Dolores was speechless.noveldrama
This little girl was so sleepy, yet she kept thinking about eating.
Dolores could only sit back in the chair. Simona took several bites of food and fell asleep.
Jessica asked Dolores to take the girl to the bedroom and told her she would clean up the dishes.
Dolores nodded her head. Since Simona had not yet had a bath and if she woke up while being bathed, she would cry, it was better for Dolores to take care of her alone.
Probably because Simona had not slept during the day, she was now sound asleep. Dolores washed her face, hands and feet, but she showed no signs of waking up.
Samuel sighed excitedly, “Mommy, I think Simona was born in the year of the pig.”
She was such a good eater and sleeper.
Dolores rolled her eyes at him, “How can you say that? If your sister was born in the Year of the Pig, then tell me when you were born. Don’t forget that you are twins.”
Samuel sat on the side of the bed and took out his desktop PC to play a game called “Intelligence Box,” saying, “I was born in the Year of the Snake. The professor said that the snake is a kind of cold-blooded animal.”
Dolores turned around to look at her son’s delicate profile. His eyelashes were curled and he was now concentrating on the game with his head down.
Dolores thanked her teacher in mind.
It was just that the things Samuel’s teacher had taught were beyond his age.
Samuel shouldn’t be learning such things at such a young age.
“Do you like your teacher?” Dolores asked.
“Of course.” Samuel answered without hesitation.
Dolores rubbed his hair.
Just then, his phone that was placed on the bedside table buzzed. As Samuel was near the phone, he picked it up and handed it to Dolores, “Mommy, your call.”
Dolores reached out to take the phone and checked that the caller ID was “LEO”.
This was Mrs. William’s token caller ID.
Dolores was grateful to Mrs. William for her appreciation of her ability at the time.
At that time, although she had just obtained her graduation certificate, she had no related experience. According to LEO’s status in the industry, she would not lower her standards at all to hire a rookie like her.
However, Mrs. William said she felt that Dolores was like her as a young woman and let her stay with the company.
It was because of her appreciation then that she had the opportunities to get to where she was today in her career.
Therefore, Dolores was very respectful to Mrs. William.
“I have arranged for Theresa to go back to China first. She will arrange everything for you and you can go straight back.”
“I see.”
Dolores tucked in the comforter for Simona, went to the windows and looked out of them, though only to see nothing, for it was very dark outside.
Gradually, however, she made up her mind.
Just as Matthew had said, since she had left everything, what was she afraid of now?
He straightened his back. Now that everything was on track-she had her own career, the children were grown, and her mother’s illness was under control-she might as well live somewhere else.
“Dolores, do you hate me?” Mrs. William was speechless for a long moment before she asked.
“No.” Dolores answered truthfully.
At first, she had been confused as to why she might be the exception. She had never been unhappy with Mrs. William especially after learning of the history between Mrs. William and Mr. William.
Mrs. William let out a sigh as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she hung up the phone.
