Unforgettable love

Chapter 65

Chapter 65:.

“No, I don’t want it!”

Maria was shaking her head like crazy. She was repeatedly saying, “I don’t want it. I don’t want revenge on you. I want you to love me.”

Her tears and messy hair made her look miserable and ashamed.

Still, Matthew’s heart did not soften.

“Dinner’s ready…” Camilla walked in to inform Landon that dinner was ready and they could start eating, only to discover that Mary stabbed Matthew with a knife in her hand.

The bright red blood made Camilla immediately nervous.

She exclaimed.

It wasn’t until then that everyone present came to their senses.

Jayden blurted out in a low tone, “Hurry! Call an ambulance.”

Landon, who was shocked, shouted to Sampson who was sitting closest to them,

“Hurry up and get your sister out of the way!”

At first Matthew was to blame, but he was injured at the Herbert Family home.

That again left them at a disadvantage rather than an advantage.

Given how things happened that way, it would not be good for Landon. He was furious but couldn’t let off steam. His hands gripped the edges of the table, blue veins snapping in them.

Crack!

As Sampson pushed his sister away, the knife fell to the floor, emitting a crunching sound.

The blade was stained with bright red blood.

“Ah! Matthew, are you all right?” Maria came back to her senses. She reached out, trying to touch his wound.

Matthew rejected her hand. Just then, a dial tone sounded in the living room.

Everyone looked toward Matthew’s coat on the couch where the ringtone came from.

Under the hanging white light, Matthew was standing with a pale halo.

He was in a trance. If others looked closely, they would notice beads of cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

He picked up his coat, pulled out his phone and checked the caller ID. It was Abbott’s. He swiped his finger to answer it.

Soon Abbott’s voice came on. “Mr. Nelson, I have looked into the matter you have asked me about. Six years ago, Dolores Flores was in a car accident, so she was taken to the hospital and was unable to return for divorce proceedings. Sampson Herbert took her and her mother, then hid them in Country A. They first stayed in Barney City, and then moved to the capital of Country A. All this time, Sampson Herbert has deliberately erased his tracks to keep others from knowing.”

With the phone in his hand, Matthew slowly looked up, and his gaze fell on Sampson, who was holding Mary.

Staring at him, Matthew asked Abbott over the phone, “Have you always been with her all these years?”

“Yes…”

Gloom came into his sharp eyes. “In what kind of relationship?” he asked again.

Even though Abbott was on the other end of the line, he could still feel Matthew’s pressure. He couldn’t help but swallow his saliva. “Mr. Nelson, I’m not done briefing yet, could you please contain your anger?” he prayed inwardly.

Of course, Matthew couldn’t hear his prayer. Abbott could only answer truthfully, “It seems that Miss Flores never accepted him, I only consider him as a big brother. Other than him, there was no other man in her life. Well, except for her son.”

“I see.” After hanging up the phone, Matthew gave Sampson a cold look and then looked at the Herbert Family members. “You can still inform me of their conditions.”

Finishing his words, he left the Herbert Family home, apparently not wanting to mingle with them any further.

There was a mess in the living room. After a moment of silence, Landon finally came to his senses. Forcing a smile, he said, “Jayden, about this matter…”

Jayden stood up, both hands behind his back. He replied in an unpleasant tone, “It was my son’s fault to begin with. After all, he didn’t keep his promise. What requests do you have? Just let us know.”

Since Matthew had been hurt and Jayden spoke up, he was obviously very unhappy.

“That’s not the case. It’s just a relationship between our children. Isn’t it normal for them to separate or get together from time to time? Since we couldn’t become in-laws, we’re still friends, aren’t we? How could I ask anything of you?” Landon maintained a flattering smile.

Since he had said it, Jayden didn’t want to insist. He called to the butler, “Thomas, let’s go home.”

Thomas came over immediately. “Mr. Matthew has gone to the hospital. Shall we go there?” he asked.

“Of course. He’s my only son,” Jayden deliberately answered in this manner. Landon’s expression was changing. Obviously, there was an implication in Jayden’s words.

Landon wondered if Jayden had said it on purpose.

Landon suppressed the anger in his heart. He had to admit that Matthew was indeed bold and determined. That young man reversed the situation that was initially not good for him.

“Warner, see them out.” Hearing his father’s words, Warner, who was standing in the doorway, hurried to follow Jayden. “Uncle Nelson, let me walk you out,” he said with a warm smile.

Jayden didn’t respond. Thomas opened the car door. Jayden bent down and sat down. Looking at Warner, who was standing next to the car, he said, “Please say my words to your father…I didn’t take what just happened to heart.” It was unwise to break friendly relations with others, for all of them.

“Sure, I’ll tell him.” Warner nodded, closed the door gently for him, and told the driver, “Drive carefully.”

Warner didn’t return to the house until the car roared away. Landon sat in the living room with a long face, looking at his sons and daughter.

He wanted to scold them but couldn’t find any words.

Finally, he grimaced. “Matthew Herbert is such a cheater.”

Warner heard this comment as soon as he walked in. He couldn’t help but look at his younger brother and let out a sigh. “We are so incompetent compared to him. I thought Maria might marry him so we could become in-laws. I didn’t expect things to end up like this…”

“You’ll leave it like this?” Maria roared. She was the saddest person given that the engagement was off, wasn’t she?

“If you were capable enough, would you call off the engagement?” yelled Landon at her. He stood up, slapping his hand on the table.

The whole family was in chaos just because of her engagement-how dare he demand anything of her?

Camilla rushed over to Landon, patting him on the back to comfort him.

“She’s just an insensitive child. Don’t be angry.”

“My own children aren’t as capable as others. Who else can I blame?” Landon shook out his sleeves, turned and walked into his room.

Camilla followed him, never ceasing to comfort her husband.

She was afraid he would be angry.

Warner was also disappointed in his younger brother. He called the servants to tidy up the parlor before returning to his own room.

Only Sampson and his trembling sister were left in the parlor.

“Let me show you to your room,” Sampson said gently. He helped Maria up.

“Why?” Maria still couldn’t accept the fact that Matthew wanted to call off their engagement until now.

She couldn’t understand how it had come to this point.

This woman had disappeared for six years.

Why had she reappeared?noveldrama

Grabbing Sampson’s collar, he asked, “Sampson, it’s been so many years, why haven’t you made her your mistress?”

If Dolores had become Sampson’s mistress, even if Matthew had found her, he wouldn’t be interested in her, would he?

“You’re exhausted. Rest well.” Sampson helped her sit up in bed.

Mary, however, was unwilling to let him go. “Sampson.” She stared at him, throwing questions at him, “Why did you save her then? Why didn’t you let her die? As long as she was dead, no one could steal Matthew from me…”

Sampson frowned. “What nonsense are you talking?” he stopped her.

“I’m not talking nonsense!” replied Mary angrily. She stood up suddenly. Staring at him, she continued sullenly, “In order to make Matthew feel guilty and marry me, I deliberately created a car accident. To make it real, I was hit by a real car. It hurt me a lot. I was in a lot of pain. So I wanted her to be hit by a car too…”

“…”

Maria burst out laughing.

Sampson froze in place, not knowing how to react. He had to look at his younger sister in a new light.

How could she be so cruel?

He could still remember what she was like as a child, she was so innocent and adorable.

“Mary.” Sampson looked at her. “Back then, why did you ask Dolores to impersonate you?” he asked.

This had always been something he couldn’t understand .
