Chapter 68
Chapter 68:.
“What are your children’s names?” asked Matthew just as Dolores made her way to the bedroom door, the man’s voice teasing, “Samuel and Simona?”
When he arrived in Country A, he learned from Abbott the details of Dolores’ life these few years. What surprised him was that she had given birth to a pair of rather beautiful twins.
Dolores stopped, turned around and stared at him. Her fists were clenched tightly. When she met Abbott, she knew he was investigating her. She hadn’t expected Abbott’s actions to be so quick.
“If you need me to come back to get a divorce certificate, you can say so out loud. Naturally, I’ll agree and won’t interfere with your happiness. But what you’re doing is threatening me and don’t you think that’s too absurd?” Dolores was shaking furiously.
Matthew was lying on the bed with one arm across his forehead and his eyes closed. He was silent, as if at his breaking point. Dolores stood in the doorway and dared not come out. She wasn’t sure that this man would do anything ruthless to hurt her children. After all, he now knew every detail about her children.
“I’m thirsty,” Matthew said after a while, but he didn’t open his eyes.
Dolores looked at him angrily and thought to herself that she must be thirsty to death.
Matthew turned around with his back to Dolores. His tightly closed eyes slowly opened and his face was very tired, “Do you intend to kill me with thirst and murder your husband?”
“…”
Dolores suppressed her anger and turned to pour him a glass of water, “Here you go.”
“Feed me.” Matthew turned and looked at the furious woman next to him.
Her face flushed because she was furious and looked like an angry hamster. It was a truly adorable sight. Matthew couldn’t help but laugh but to Dolores, he was making fun of her.
“Matthew, fuck off!” Dolores threw the glass of water at him. The glass of water flew in midair and the water splashed harmlessly on him but the glass landed directly where he was injured.
When the glass impacted his wound, he grunted in pain. The water soaked his shirt and revealed the red color underneath. Dolores was stunned – didn’t he have a high pain threshold? How could a glass cause him so much pain?
“Don’t act,” Dolores demanded.
Matthew froze in silence. Dolores looked up slowly and saw the red color on his clean white shirt. She raised her eyebrows-why would his chest be red? She leaned over to see what the red color was.
As she got closer and because the shirt was soaked with water, Dolores could see that on his chest were bandages.
“You… how did you get hurt?” asked Dolores.
Matthew opened his eyes and looked up at the chandeliers on the ceiling. His fingers rubbed against the bedclothes. He didn’t want to owe Mary too much, since he was the one who had let her down. He had a lot of misgivings but he had his strength. After so many years, they definitely had some relationship.
This relationship was different from affection. It was ethics and responsibility. Just as Mary questioned him: could money buy so many years of youth?
His thick eyebrows moved slowly and he looked at her earnestly, “Would you believe me if I told you it was because of you?”noveldrama
Dolores’ lips pursed as she saw the sincerity in his eyes. But when she thought about it carefully, she doubted he was serious about her. How could he like a woman who had given birth to someone else’s children? She was wrong, she had to be wrong, what did his injury have to do with her? Besides, he was about to become engaged to Maria. Did he think she was a fool?
It was clear from her expression that she didn’t think so and Matthew chuckled softly. Perhaps he was laughing at himself. Even he couldn’t understand how he felt about her.
Dolores bent down to pick up the glass. Perhaps she felt guilty for throwing
the glass of water as she said softly, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“No.” Matthew flatly refused.
Dolores felt helpless, “So, what about your wound?”.
“Help me get out of my wet clothes.” It was too uncomfortable to wear the wet clothes.
Dolores thought for a moment about bending down and starting to undo his buttons and said, “I can help you, but once it’s done, you must let me come back.” The two boys usually slept with her and if she wasn’t around, she worried they wouldn’t get a good night’s sleep.
When she leaned over, strands of hair fell forward and landed on her face. It was tickling and numbing. It was like an electric current flowing and activating her sensitive region. He said in a hoarse voice, “It depends on your performance.”
Dolores said slowly, “I owe you nothing.”
When she spoke, her breath played softly with those strands of hair, “If you haven’t hurt me, will you hurt me a second time? You should be grateful that I haven’t accused you of bodily harm.”
“…”
As Dolores unbuttoned his shirt, she intentionally pressed on his wound. Matthew grunted in pain, and thought, why was this woman so merciless? Couldn’t she be more gentle while he was injured?
He let out a sigh, “I finally understand why you’ve been single for so many years. No one can accept a woman as rough as you.”
“Lift your arm!” Dolores tugged at his shirt, glared at him and laughed, “I have plenty of suitors.”
“Really?”
“Of course… Ah!”
Before she could finish, with one movement of his body, Matthew pulled her to the floor and lay on top of her. The wet shirt covered him. The situation looked comical but she couldn’t cover her predatory gaze.
“Tell me, who are they?”
Dolores looked to the side to avoid looking at his naked body, “Get off me first.”
Matthew brought his face closer and emphasized, “You’re a married woman.”
“Once the paperwork is complete, we’re officially divorced!” Dolores wanted so badly to scream at him. How could he say that to his ex-wife when he already had a fiancée.
She narrowed her eyes and lowered her body. Her lips were almost touching and she said, “Don’t forget that without formally divorcing you, you are still my wife, you…”
His fingers slid down her face and then pressed his lips, “How should we spend the night after meeting after all these years?”
Dolores looked up with wide eyes. Her fists were clenched and she held her breath.
“Have you heard a saying?” His finger pressed against her pink lips. He didn’t use much force and Dolores didn’t feel pain but she felt insulted.
“What saying?” Dolores gently raised her knee preparing to defend herself at any moment.
Matthew noticed her movement but didn’t show it and tapped her forehead, “Haven’t you heard that absence makes the heart grow fonder? We’ve been separated for six years…”
Before he could finish, Dolores started to raise her knee. But Matthew had anticipated and pressed her knee, which was about to kick him between the legs.
He grinned victoriously, “Are you that anxious?”
Dolores’ face turned red, was he a pervert, how could he force himself on her? Now Dolores was really angry and glared at him angrily. Her tears were welling up, but she controlled her tears to keep them from falling.
Matthew was dumbfounded ….
