Chapter 71
Chapter 71:
He pushed the door after he was allowed to enter.
The office was spacious and unique, with a rectangular desk in the center and two mannequins dressed in various gorgeous dresses on the sides. Across from her sat an elegant older woman. She was dressed in an elegant suit with a bow at the nape of her neck. She wore a necklace of saltwater pearls around her neck. The pearls were lustrous and evenly sized, complementing the pearl earrings in her ears and presenting the old woman’s elegance to perfection.
“Sit down.” Mrs. William held an exquisite box in her hand and fondled it lovingly.
Dolores glanced at it and sat down, “What can I do for you?”.
Mrs. William placed the box on the table still not letting go of her hand. She informed him, “I’m planning to open a branch in B-town, China. You will be in charge of it.”
There was only one LEO Corporation. And since its inception, there was a rule not to establish a branch in other countries, only this one.
So they had received orders from all over the world.
They were customized services, where each of the suits and wedding dresses sold were unique and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
And that’s why LEO Corporation was favored by many women.
Especially for those who were attending important occasions, such as celebrities walking a red carpet or brides-to-be getting married, their dresses and gowns were really essential for them as well. Their first choice was to choose something that could be customized and absolutely unique.
“Isn’t it stipulated that the LEO Corporation is not opening any branches?” Dolores was puzzled.
Besides, the branch was to be opened in China and, to her surprise, the location was in B-town, a place she completely rejected.
She would have accepted without hesitation if it were in other countries.noveldrama
Mrs. William sighed and said helplessly, “No pain, no gain.”
The LEO Corporation was created by Mrs. William, and the rules were established by her as well.
Mrs. William was already over ninety years old, and this rule had been in place for about sixty years. How could they break the rule at will?
“Mrs. William, are you having any difficulty?” Dolores looked at the box Mrs. William had been fondling.
There seemed to be something very valuable stored inside.
Mrs. William seemed unwilling to speak further, “I have decided.” Dolores sensed something too unusual for this sudden decision.
The chosen location was too coincidental.
She would not believe it to be a coincidence.
If it wasn’t a coincidence, then who would want her to come back?
“Lola, if you don’t accept, there won’t be any store that wants to recruit you.” Mrs. William realized that Dolores was reluctant and sighed, “Actually, it’s not a bad idea. After all, it is your hometown.”
Dolores felt complicated with her head down, “Can you tell me why make such a decision?”
“Because of this.” Mrs. William took the exquisite box. “I always knew who had kept it. But no matter how much I offered, that person refused to sell it…”
Mrs. William met with Mr. Nelson from China yesterday afternoon.
He made an exchange with Mrs. William with this item. He would give it to Mrs. William, and she would have to open a branch office in B-town in China with Dolores as the person in charge.
And Mrs. William had to warn Dolores that she would be forced out of this industry if she tried to leave the LEO Corporation.
She had to go back, even if she wasn’t willing!
Dolores pursed her lips, trying to get it straight, “Someone handed her something, which she always wanted, but on one condition. That is, to open a branch office in China B-town, And the person in charge has to be me?”.
Mrs. William shook her head, not to disapprove of his words, but for being too clever.
“A woman is loveliest when she’s being silly. But I think that gentleman must be very fond of you. Otherwise he would not seek me out.” Mrs. William was very fond of Dolores. She reached out and patted him on the shoulder, “You can’t solve your problem by running away. You’ll only really put it behind you when you can face the people and things of the past calmly. That you’re still taking it to heart means you haven’t let it go yet.”
Dolores didn’t want to admit: “I’ve already quit.”
“Since you’ve quit, then what are you afraid of?”
Dolores didn’t know too. Only, from the bottom of her heart, she felt reluctant to go back. She didn’t want to meet those people from the past or remember the things that had happened before.
They were too unpleasant.
“I’ve made my decision, and it’s up to you to think about it. I’ll leave you to it.” Mrs. William held up the elegant box, examining it.
As if she saw someone through that box.
Dolores got up and left.
Theresa Gordon was waiting for her outside. When she saw Dolores leave, she hurried, “What are you going to do?”
Theresa was also from China. She arrived two years after Dolores. At that time, she could not be admitted because she was not a graduate in that particular field. It was Dolores who let Theresa follow her and learn at LEO Corporation.
After knowing Dolores for quite some time, she also knew something about Dolores.
Dolores gave a wry smile, “I have no choice.”
Mrs. William’s words were accurate. If she declined, there would be no store that would want to hire her.
Mrs. William had a good reputation in the industry, and people would show her respect.
“Do you know what’s inside Mrs. William’s box?” Dolores was very curious about that thing, which had made her break the rules for many years.
Theresa shook her head, “I’m not sure.”
Dolores sighed. Although she was curious, her biggest concern now was to get back to her country.
She took the file to her office, flipped through it and learned about her clients’ needs. She took out a piece of drawing paper and a pencil, but she could not quiet her mind. He held the pencil, but couldn’t write anything.
He rubbed his face and let Theresa make him a cup of black coffee.
“Didn’t you get a good night’s rest last night? You don’t look well.” asked Theresa with concern.
Dolores took a sip of the coffee. It wasn’t that she hadn’t rested well, it was that she hadn’t even slept.
“This isn’t urgent. How about you go home and get some rest?”. suggested Theresa.
“I won’t be able to sleep even if I go back now. I’ll leave you to it.” She took a deep breath, “Life goes on.”
Dolores couldn’t slack off, especially during this time.
Her children still needed her.
“All right, then.”
Theresa left the office and closed the door. Suddenly, a large hand opened the door. Theresa turned around and saw a tall man standing behind her, “You…”
“Shh!” whispered Matthew Nelson, “I’m looking for her.”
Theresa remembered the way he suddenly pushed Dolores away that day.
They knew each other and had an unusual relationship.
She took the hint and backed away without a word.
Matthew closed the door and walked in.
Dolores had calmed down and was concentrating on her design.
As the client had requested, the wedding dress was to be a wrap-breasted gown, and a wrap-breasted wedding dress would be suitable for a fishtail skirt. This type of mermaid wedding dress required a specific body type.
Matthew was standing behind Dolores, watching her work conscientiously. It was the first time he had seen her draw.
An ordinary pencil, as if enchanted. With a few strokes, the appearance of a wedding dress was made on the piece of paper.
Dolores sensed someone standing silently behind her. She thought it was Theresa, as Theresa was in the habit of watching her draw, so she didn’t feel strange. “Theresa, do you have any information about the client’s height and weight?”
She wanted to choose the design according to the client’s body shape.
She didn’t hear any response, so she turned around, “Th…”
